The cluster is designed for computation tasks that are memory and processing heavy. The cluster contains 10 high-memory Dell PowerEdge servers (192 GB RAM each). One of the servers toad.cs.vt.edu acts as the network gateway and the file server. All the servers mount an 11TB (post-mirroring) NFS share from the file server. Each non-file server also has 1.2TB local storage, with the following configuration:

Dell PowerEdge R630 Server
24-core Intel(R) Xeon(R) E5-2620 (2.4GHz, 15M Cache)
Memory 192GB RDIMM
Ethernet 10Gb BT DP + I350 1Gb BT DP
1.2TB SAS Hot-plug Hard Drive

To access the cluster, you should ssh to the gateway, which will land you to a random server in the cluster. From there, you should be able to ssh any other servers on the server list. Each machine will mount your home directories off of NFS. By default, you should put your code and data in your home directory. In special cases, you may use the per-node local storage. If you have any questions, please contact me.
